Officials will focus on strengthening the user authentication process.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the Cyber Safety Review Board will begin its third review of cyberattacks aimed to hack into cloud computing. The board’s first review looked specifically at vulnerabilities within the 2021 hack of the Log4j open-source software library.
The second review, completed earlier this month, sought to discover the strategies of Lapsus$, a well-known global hacking group. The third review is intended to lead to better protection of the authentication process required to access cloud software from multiple computers in multiple locations.
“Cloud security is the backbone of some of our most critical systems, from our e-commerce platforms to our communication tools to our critical infrastructure,” said Secretary Mayorkas. “Actionable recommendations from the CSRB will help all organizations better secure their data and further cyber resilience.”
